“One Transition, Two Perspectives”:  LGBTQ+ conversations for TA professionals

Join us for our first ever fireside chat, with Joanne Lockwood, together with her wife, Marie. Joanne and Marie will give heartfelt and authentic accounts, about the challenges both of them faced whilst tackling Joanne’s gender transition.  The session will give insight from both their perspectives and deliver actionable takeaways that businesses can implement right now to ensure they are providing support to trans and gender-diverse colleagues and candidates. Joanne’s Smile I Engage I Educate mantra, along with her goal to treat people as they wish to be treated are both great foundations when looking at every stage of the recruitment process.

Joanne is Founder and CEO of SEE Change Happen an Inclusion and Belonging Consultancy. Joanne works with “people people” across the UK, Europe and beyond – leaders in HR, Talent Acquisition, and Learning & Development. Challenging corporate mentality on unconscious bias, her consultancy service stretches far beyond “just” Diversity & Inclusion (D&I).

The session
Joanne and Marie will recount their experiences of Joanne’s transition this time, sharing their different perspectives and the impacts it had on each of them, their families and at work. They will also reflect as contributors to the Chanel 4 documentary, “The Making of Me” and on their Gogglebox appearance in 2019.

Joanne and Marie will discuss:

2. The power of having allies in the workplace
3. Highlight how they overcame the negative thoughts holding them back
4. Explore how it can be to transition and also how to support friends, family and colleagues who may be transitioning or want to discuss gender identities
